SSF is the extension given to files that are used in 1 operating systems such as: Windows. SSF files are most often associated with the ArcGIS Desktop program. This is a program taken by Esri. In addition, the GPS Pathfinder Office programs can be used to open files with the SSF extension.
The structure of such files is typical of GIS Files. 255 file types are given the SSF extension, but most often they are not compatible and you must use a different application to handle each of them. The Trimble Standard Storage Format file format and the ArcGIS Desktop program were developed by Trimble Navigation. This particular Trimble Standard Storage Format file was most likely generated by the ArcGIS Desktop program. SSF detailed description
The SSF file extension is for a standardized storage file created by Trimble. It is a text-based file that can be edited with a text editor or a word processor.
SSF files are designed to work with Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC), which was developed by Microsoft as part of the .NET Framework. The SSF format was designed as an alternative to the TRIMBLE File Format (TFX) or TFX files, which were developed by Trimble as part of their software suite.
The SSF file extension became popular because it was compatible with both MFC and TFX.
