To edit MARC file, we strongly recommend installing software that works with MARC files. Using tools such as MARC Online Editors gives less editing possibilities than software adapted to work with the MARC file format.

Definitely the best solution. Try to open the MARC file with one of the programs and it will see if you can edit the MARC file. It's safest to download the software from the developer's website. You will find links to the software developers' websites on the subpage of each program. Below you will find some examples of software programs that support the MARC file (so it is very possible that they can edit files in MARC format).

Most of the file formats are simply text format saved under a different extension - so you can open them e.g. with Windows Notepad But beware - making manual changes to the MARC file or another may result in its damage. After saving the changes, it may not be possible to reopen the MARC file. By far the safest way is to use file editing programs that works with the MARC extension.
