How to open IGES file?

The software referred to as IGES Opener allows you to freely work with IGES files, including opening their contents. The first thing you should do is double-click the IGES file icon you want to open. If you have the correct software your problem should be resolved. After clicking, your IGES file should open in the program that is assigned as default for handling IGES files on your device. Sometimes, however, various problems arise, below you will find the instructions that you should follow.

Open IGES files in 9 steps

1. Make sure that the operating system where you are trying to open the IGES Format file is supported by it. Files with the IGES extension may not be supported by the operating system you are using.
2. Check if the 3D Object Converter or AutoCAD, TurboCAD, Vectorworks, IGSViewer program is installed in the system. If there is no such program, install it (or download it earlier).

4. Files ripped from external media or downloaded from the Internet may have a damaged structure. In this case, although one of the 3D Object Converter, AutoCAD, TurboCAD, Vectorworks, IGSViewer programs is installed, the IGES Format file cannot be opened. If possible, you can try to open the IGES Format file directly from its source.
5. If it turns out that the IGES Format file contains a virus, it will usually be impossible to open it. In this situation, it is recommended to scan all data media in the system for viruses.
6. Check that the IGES Format file format is not outdated. The application the user is trying to open the file in may not be backwards compatible and this prevents IGES Format from opening.
