How to view DAT file?

Sometimes you just need to see what is in the DAT file, without having to perform more complicated operations. In this case, it is enough that you use the so-called DAT Viewer. This type of tool is nothing more than a program or an online application that allows you to easily view the content of the data stored in the DAT file. To view the content of the DAT file, select one of the available options:

Software supporting DAT files

DAT viewer did not handle your file? Take advantage of other options One of them is to use software that works with the DAT file. Here are some sample programs that can help you. By choosing the option to install dedicated software, you will also be able to e.g. edit the DAT file and sometimes even convert the DAT file.

Advantages and disadvantages of this solution

The first important thing is that you will need to download and install a dedicated application that supports the DAT format on your device. Unfortunately, it is not possible to see the DAT file online in this case. Here you will need more time to use this solution, but you will also have more options. Below you will find a list of example applications that are dedicated to working with the DAT file - for the full list go to DAT File Opener

Other possibilities to view the contents of the DAT file

If you still cannot see the contents of the DAT file, but also don't see the need to install dedicated software, then there are other solutions. A large proportion of the data formats are simply archives or plain text files. In this case, you can try to open your DAT file with the simplest text editor, for example with "Notepad". This solution does not guarantee that the problem will be solved, but it will often allow you to view the data in the DAT file to some extent.

The second way is to use a data archiving program. Check if you can open your file with eg Winrar. If our theory proves to be correct, you should see the tree of files contained in the archive. To get information about what kind of data it is, go to the subpage with information about the DAT file extension.
