How to view GDS file?

Sometimes you just need to see what is in the GDS file, without having to perform more complicated operations. Then the tools called GDS Viewer come in handy. This type of tool is nothing more than a program or an online application that allows you to easily view the content of the data stored in the GDS file. You have several options to view the contents of the GDS file:

Software programs supporting files with GDS extension

Our GDS Viewer did not live up to what I expected? Choose something else The first is to download the software that supports GDS files Below are some examples of verified applications. By choosing the option to install dedicated software, you will also be able to e.g. edit the GDS file and sometimes even convert the GDS file.

Advantages and disadvantages of this solution

First of all, you need to know that you need to install specific software that supports GDS files on your computer. In this case, it is not possible to view the GDS file online. This method is more complicated, but it offers more possibilities for working with the GDS file. You can find some examples of dedicated software below, and the full list is here GDS File Opener

Other possibilities to view the contents of the GDS file

If you haven't been able to preview the contents of the GDS file yet, or you don't want to install any dedicated programming to handle these files, you can try something else. A large proportion of the data formats are simply archives or plain text files. In this case, you can try to open your GDS file with the simplest text editor, for example with "Notepad". This does not guarantee success, but in most cases it will allow you to see the contents of the GDS file to some extent.

The second way is to use a data archiving program. Open Winrar or Winzip and try to unpack your file. If our theory proves to be correct, you should see the tree of files contained in the archive. To get information about what kind of data it is, go to the subpage with information about the GDS file extension.
