If you haven't been able to preview the contents of the QMK file yet, or you don't want to install any dedicated programming to handle these files, you can try something else. Many file types are simply text files or data archives. In this case, it is likely that you will be able to view the contents of QMK with a normal "Notepad". This does not guarantee success, but in most cases it will allow you to see the contents of the QMK file to some extent.

The second attempt may be with a data archiving program. Check if you can open your file with eg Winrar. If the file is a data archive, you should see what individual files it consists of.
