To edit HKS file, we strongly recommend installing software that works with HKS files. Using tools such as HKS Online Editors gives less editing possibilities than software adapted to work with the HKS file format.

This is definitely the surest way. Try to open the HKS file with one of the programs and it will see if you can edit the HKS file.
