To edit TAR file, we strongly recommend installing software that works with TAR files. There are many tools known as TAR Online Editors, but it is not certain that they operate in a way that keeps the data contained in the file safe.
The installation of the program that supports the TAR file does not guarantee that the file can be edited. Additional information about the TAR file extension can be found here.
This is the best way. Choose one of the programs that support the TAR file extension, open your file and check the editing options. The most proven method is to download the installer from the developer's website. You can find direct links to the creators' websites on the subpages of each application. List of sample programs supporting the TAR file below.

Most of the file formats are simply text format saved under a different extension - so you can open them e.g. with Windows Notepad But beware - making manual changes to the TAR file or another may result in its damage. After saving the changes, it may not be possible to reopen the TAR file. For this reason, try to use software created to edit TAR files.
It seems that one of the software on the list must be able to edit the TAR files. However, if for some reason you did not find this option, you can try using tools prepared by external websites. Verified websites with the option to edit the file in the TAR format below.
