How to open BFF file? 9 steps
If the user comes across a file named Backup Format, but is unable to open it, the first thing to do is to take the following steps:
- The user must verify that the operating system used by him is compatible with the file Backup Format. It may turn out that BFF files are not compatible with your system.
- Make sure that the default application for the files BFF, AIX restore or one of the following AIX backup is installed in the operating system. If there is no application that supports files with the extension BFF, it should be downloaded and installed on the system.

- The Backup Format file may be saved in a way that is no longer supported. The application the user is trying to open the file in may not be backwards compatible and this prevents Backup Format from opening.
- An attempt to open the Backup Format file by an un-updated application may fail. Check the app for up-to-date information and, if necessary, install the latest version.
- Make sure that the icon representing the Backup Format file is not a shortcut to the location where this file is not present.
- The system administrator has restricted the opening and modification of certain files, which in this case may include Backup Format.
