If you still cannot see the contents of the CTL file, but also don't see the need to install dedicated software, then there are other solutions. Many file types are simply text files or data archives. In this case, you can try to open your CTL file with the simplest text editor, for example with "Notepad". I can at least to some extent let you see the contents of the file with the extension CTL.

As in the case of Notepad, you can also use the data archiving program. Try to open your file with e.g. Winrar or Winzip. If your CTL file belongs to the archived files category, you will see a list of files inside the archive.
