It often happens that you only need to preview the contents of the DS9 file, without the need to edit or process the data contained in it. Then the tools called DS9 Viewer come in handy. This solution does not guarantee that the problem will be solved, but it will often allow you to view the data in the DS9 file to some extent.
The second way is to use a data archiving program. Open Winrar or Winzip and try to unpack your file. If your DS9 file belongs to the archived files category, you will see a list of files inside the archive. Go to the information page about the DS9 file extension. to see what kind of data it contains.
