How to view VDI file?

It often happens that you only need to preview the contents of the VDI file, without the need to edit or process the data contained in it. Then do not install dedicated software and use tools such as VDI Viewer. Such a program allows us only to display the contents of the VDI file. To view the content of the VDI file, select one of the available options:

Software supporting VDI files

Our VDI Viewer did not live up to what I expected? Choose something else The first is to download the software that supports VDI files Below are some examples of verified applications. By using the dedicated software you will have more options, e.g. editing the VDI file or converting the VDI file to a different file format.

Advantages and disadvantages of dedicated software

The first important thing is that you will need to download and install a dedicated application that supports the VDI format on your device. In this situation, unfortunately, you cannot see the VDI file online. This method is more complicated, but it offers more possibilities for working with the VDI file. You can find some examples of dedicated software below, and the full list is here VDI File Opener

Other options

If you haven't been able to preview the contents of the VDI file yet, or you don't want to install any dedicated programming to handle these files, you can try something else. A lot of file formats contain plain text data or packed data. In this case, you can try to open your VDI file with the simplest text editor, for example with "Notepad". This does not guarantee success, but in most cases it will allow you to see the contents of the VDI file to some extent.

The second attempt may be with a data archiving program. Check if you can open your file with eg Winrar. If our theory proves to be correct, you should see the tree of files contained in the archive. If you don't know what type of VDI file is, learn more about VDI file extension.
