If you still cannot see the contents of the WED file, but also don't see the need to install dedicated software, then there are other solutions. A large proportion of the data formats are simply archives or plain text files. In this case, it is likely that you will be able to view the contents of WED with a normal "Notepad". I can at least to some extent let you see the contents of the file with the extension WED.

The second attempt may be with a data archiving program. Try to open your file with e.g. Winrar or Winzip. If our theory proves to be correct, you should see the tree of files contained in the archive.
