How to open CFG file?
The software referred to as CFG Opener allows you to freely work with CFG files, including opening their contents. The first thing you should do is double-click the CFG file icon you want to open. If the user comes across a file named Configuration Format, but is unable to open it, the first thing to do is to take the following steps:
- Check if the Configuration Format file can be handled by the given operating system. Files with the CFG extension may not be supported by the operating system you are using.
- Check if the DataFlex or Text editor, WordPad, Notepad2, Windows Notepad program is installed in the system. If there is no application that supports files with the extension CFG, it should be downloaded and installed on the system.

If not, open the dialog box with the properties of the Configuration Format file and use the "Change" button on the "General" tab. - Files ripped from external media or downloaded from the Internet may have a damaged structure. The DataFlex, Text editor, WordPad, Notepad2, Windows Notepad programs will then not be able to open the Configuration Format file. If possible, you can try to open the Configuration Format file directly from its source.
- The antivirus program can identify the virus with which the Configuration Format file has been infected and at the same time blocks the opening of the file. The best solution in this case is to run a virus scanner and check the system for viruses.
- The Configuration Format file may be saved in a way that is no longer supported. In this case, you may find that the newer version of the application does not support this older format.
