How to open ODP file?

The software referred to as ODP Opener allows you to freely work with ODP files, including opening their contents. If you have the appropriate software installed on your device, opening the ODP file should be done without any problems by double-clicking on the file's icon. After clicking on the ODP file icon, the operating system should open its content with the associated software. However, the problem is not always solved so quickly. Follow the steps of the instructions below to try to solve it.

Open ODP files in 9 steps

In case it is not possible to open the OpenDocument Presentation file without additional steps, follow the steps below

  1. Check if the OpenDocument Presentation file can be handled by the given operating system. Files with the ODP extension may not be supported by the operating system you are using.
  2. Make sure that the default application for the files ODP, Apache OpenOffice or one of the following LibreOffice, OpenOffice.org Impress, Microsoft PowerPoint, IBM Lotus Symphony is installed in the operating system. If there is no such program, install it (or download it earlier).
  3. Check if files with the extension ODP are associated with the application Apache OpenOffice or one of the programs such as LibreOffice, OpenOffice.org Impress, Microsoft PowerPoint, IBM Lotus Symphony. If this is not the case, you should manually set the program, preferably by editing the properties of the OpenDocument Presentation file and displaying the applications available on the system that allow you to open it. Choose one of the Apache OpenOffice, LibreOffice, OpenOffice.org Impress, Microsoft PowerPoint, IBM Lotus Symphony applications to open the ODP files.

  5. Files ripped from external media or downloaded from the Internet may have a damaged structure. In this case, the Apache OpenOffice, LibreOffice, OpenOffice.org Impress, Microsoft PowerPoint, IBM Lotus Symphony programs will not be able to open the OpenDocument Presentation file despite their presence in the system. If possible, you can try to open the OpenDocument Presentation file directly from its source.
  6. The antivirus program can identify the virus with which the OpenDocument Presentation file has been infected and at the same time blocks the opening of the file. Such a situation should not be underestimated and such a file should be deleted or moved to quarantine, and the entire system should be scanned.
  7. The OpenDocument Presentation file may be saved in a way that is no longer supported.
